Abutments

Abutments

In dental surgery, the abutment is an interface between the titanium root implant grafted in the bone and the external portion of dental prosthesis, so-called crown. When the dental prosthesis is mounted, the abutment is installed in the implant with an artificial dental crown being already mounted on its head..

There are also the integrated constructions wherein the implant and abutment represent a single integral part. Such variants are usually used with the method of immediate-insertion dental prosthetics
Abutments
The same chemically pure medical grade titanium is the most commonly used material for manufacturing of the dental abutments. Besides, the manufacturing of other types of abutments is used in practice:

of zirconium dioxide (modern, but sufficiently expensive solution);

• combined titanium-zirconium abutments (more functional than the previous ones, but difficult-to-make and very expensive);

• of ceramics (will be well suited for those who have an allergic reaction to metal components);

• plastic abutments are a cheap variant for temporary use as a rule for installation of the temporary dental crowns

Abutments
The capabilities of the ABM Technology Medical Product Plant make it possible to manufacture dental abutments of any construction:

• standard abutments representing a family of standardized constructions manufactured by the template model differing among themselves in geometry and sizes; with the most reasonable price, they are suitable in the majority of cases.

• individual abutments taking into account the anatomic features of the installation site (of a certain patient); they are more expensive in manufacturing, but have better performance and aesthetic qualities.

• ball (O-ring) abutments are usually used on the mini-implants for attachment of the temporary dental prostheses.
