Osteosynthesis is a surgical intervention involving the repositioning and fixation of fragments with implants. It is performed in case of irreparable displacement, interposition of soft tissues, non-union of bones and in cases where there is a threat of developing compartment syndrome or damage to blood vessels and nerves by bone fragments. A relative indication for operative treatment is the patient's desire to accelerate the process of consolidation and recovery. The main method of operative treatment of fractures is osteosynthesis.
