Drilling Operations

When machining the high-accuracy medical products, one cannot do without a need for performance of drilling operations. Their main scope is the formation of cylindrical internal cavities in the implants and other prosthetic components, making dead holes for internal thread cutting for threaded connections.Drilling Operations
A drill, which can differ in the shape and construction depending on the material being processed, is the main tool for performance of drilling operations in the prosthetic constructionsIn our practice, such biocompatible materials and polymers as titanium, stainless steel, PEEK, and POM are the main materials being processed. The special strengthened drills are used to drill titanium, stainless, and high-alloy steels.Drilling Operations
A drilling operation is principally very similar to a milling operation with the face-milling cutter, but the metal is cut not along the edge being processed, but deep into it. That is why, in practice, the drilling operations are frequently carried out on the same equipment as the milling operations. Thus, a drilling operation is the same integral part of functionality as the milling, lathe machining, screw-cutting, grinding operations, etc. on the Japanese multipurpose Tsugami S206 CNC machines being the base of machine pool of the manufacturing subdivision of our ABM Technology Plant. The operation of internal thread cutting in dead and through holes is one of the drilling varieties.
