Surface Treatment
The treatment specificity of medical product surfaces of prosthetic nature, first of all, the implants lies in the fact that it is often aimed not at the improvement in their cleanliness being in common practice in the industrial production, but quite to the contrary – to the attainment of a definite degree of roughness and even porosity to their surfaces. Such surface roperties of the implants made of chemically pure medical grade titanium are, first of all, necessary for the improvement of their biological compatibility with the tissues of human body and their better survival to a living tissue.
In order to assure taking on such specific properties by the implant metal surfaces, they are subjected to the following operations at our ABM Technology Medical Product Plant:
• sandblasting;
• acid treatment (etching);
• barrel and electromagnetic barrel finishing;
• solid-state anodization and colour anodizing.
To carry out these operations, it is used the most high-technology operating equipment manufactured by Swiss KKS Ultraschall AG being an undisputed leader in this area.
