Technological processes
A complex of state-of-the-art technologies for the performance of complete production cycle (from designing to packaging) of a wide range of medical products is brought together at the ABM Technology Plant. It includes the implants and prosthetic components for dental surgery, neurosurgery, and orthopedics as well as the medical instruments.
Well-known metal processing methods implemented at the state-of-the-art technology level underlie the capabilities of our enterprise. They assure a high accuracy and absolute sterility of processing prescribed by the current level of surgical medicine development as well as the high standards attained by the specialists from USA and Switzerland being the leaders in the segment of surgical implants. We have reached the same level in the production equipping because the products manufactured by ABM Technology LLC are just as well as their foreign analogues in terms of technology.
Engineering and Design
The manufacturing of prosthetic suprastructures for surgery mainly comes to a small-lot or even piece-work production depending on the customer requirements and wishes to a greater degree than on the production standards. The engineering and design of these medical products are the most important constituent of the entire manufacturing process. They should be already treated as a critical organizational technology, which final result (product) is the absence of the right to make mistakes at all following manufacturing stages. It presents a complicated multiple-stage and very specific process of design engineering, coordination of customer needs with the equipment capabilities, verification nature and laboratory tests.

At present, ABM Technology LLC has to its credit more than 600 schedule items of designed medical products. However, this is far from the limit, further development of the range of products being manufactured against the background of permanent preservation and improvement in manufacturing quality are provided for in our long-term development plans.
Machining
The blanks of BT1-0 (Grade 4) commercially pure titanium manufactured by famous German ZAPP GmbH are mainly used for making of prosthetic suprastructures at the ABM Technology Plant. However, our technological capabilities make it possible to use blanks made of other medical metals and alloys too. 

The products are put into shape required by the construction by way of their precision machining, that is a lathe turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. At our Plant, these basic manufacturing operations are carried out on the state-of-the-art (manufactured no later than 2017) (precision quality) S206 metal-working CNC machines manufactured by Japanese machine-building Tsunami Precision Co.
Our skilled operators of Japanese CNC machines correspond to a high class of metal-working machinery. They took a long-term training course with the practical training under the guidance of Japanese specialists at arranged time. Besides, at present, they have rather rich experience of manufacturing practice.
Surface Machining
The surface machining of medical implants and prosthetic components has a specificity of its own because it is not aimed at the increase of accuracy class of the part surface, but at the increase in the survival of metal implant to a biological tissue. A guarantee of this surface property lies in its sufficient roughness and porosity as well as the absolute chemical purity of biologically neutral material.
To carry out operations of cleaning and machining of medical product surface, the most high-technology equipment manufactured by Swiss KKS Ultraschall AG being an undisputed leader in this market segment is used at the ABM Technology Medical Product Plant.
The Swiss equipment available at our enterprise makes it possible to apply the following machining technologies:
• electromagnetic barrel finishing for small-sized parts with complicated shape (like jewellery and surgical ones) is an analogue of mechanical polishing. It is used to smooth burrs and sharp edges occurred in the process of part machining, thorough metal surface cleaning (even in hard-to-reach places) of oxides, various contamination and greasy deposits;
• sandblasting performs one more essential function while cleaning a metal surface from oxide film, that is imparts it a required roughness being necessary for optimization of the implant survival to a living tissue;
• acid treatment (etching). It is used both for the attainment of required chemical purity by the surface of metal implant (removal of residual contaminants after machining) and for the imparting required porous structure to it, which, in its turn, adding roughness, exerts influence on the quality of the titanium surface survival to a living tissue;
• ultrasonic cleaning (cleaning with ultrasonic waves in liquid medium) is a final stage of fine cleaning of the product surface as the result of which the most hard-to-reach places and even the pores of material are cleanedwith the absolute chemical purity being imparted to it. At the ABM Technology Plant, an ultrasonic cleaning can be carried out in six different media (baths) - acid, alkaline, alcohol, cleaning water solution, and clean water
Assurance of Product Sterility
At the ABM Technology Medical Product Plant, even packaging of finished products is
an important part of manufacturing process. Even its primary packaging takes place in the isolated so-called “clean room” with the observance of the highest sterility standards. The strictest mode of bactericidal processing, including air filtering is maintained in this manufacturing area. The employees wear insulating work uniform and carry out product primary packaging only with the help of sterile instrument without contact with the hand skin of packers.

After primary packaging, the products are sent to complete sterilization with the hard gamma-radiation completely killing any microbial and bacterial media.

The times for manufacturing of medical products at the ABS Technology Plant are rather flexible by each certain type of products and their lot. They depend on that, which shall be particularly manufactured, the technological scope of works and quantitative size of lot. At the customer’s request, we can manufacture both intermediate blanks and medical products fully ready for use.
Thanks to the powerful manufacturing base, competent and experienced engineers and technicians as well as thoroughly elaborated and well-organized technologies, the manufacturing capabilities of our Plant provided for at the time of its foundation are rather large. Even carefully estimated, they amount to 30 to 40 thousand of medical products per month, including the prosthetic suprastructures and medical instruments. With a particular focus only on the capabilities by prosthetic components for dental surgery, our today’s manufacturing potential is at least 22 000 products per month. Undoubtedly, this volume is able to cover a significant share of domestic market in this segment of medical products.
However, ABM Technology LLC does not rest on its laurels. Our long-term development plans provide for further production ramp-up, expansion ofproduct range, and increase in its quality.
